Review
12 year old pianist prodigy Mélanie performs in a try-out for admission to the Conservatory. She hopes she will study there and eventually become a successful pianist. Unfortunately, a disrespectful judge distracts her during her audition and she fails the test. Defeated, Mélanie leaves the piano forever. But several years later she will find that judge and plan her revenge.
The Page Turner is a minimalistic psychological thriller with good performances, in particular Déborah François gives revenge-driven Mélanie a cold and sinister personality. The film succeeds in keeping the viewer interested up until the end, but the conclusion isn’t par with all the tension that it generates. A deeper and less rushed resolution would have made this film excellent.
