Review
Kadosh is the story of two sisters who live in a patriarchal oriented ultra-orthodox Jewish community, where the women work, raise children and tend to their husbands, so that they can spend the day immersed in their religious studies. Rivka is married to Meir, and although they love each other very much, he resents the fact that in ten years of marriage she hasn’t given him any children. Meanwhile, Rivka’s younger sister Malka is about to get married to Yossef, a man she barely knows, in a marriage arranged by the rabbi of the congregation.
This film exposes some of the difficulties women face in a community where they are considered inferior to men. Unfortunately the acting and the technical values of the film are poor, so what could have been an interesting insight into the Jewish orthodox world becomes an unattractive and slow moving story that fails to capture the viewer.
