Review

3-Iron3-Iron is a strange Korean film that tells the love story of Sun-hwa and Tae-suk. Sun-hwa spends his days breaking into homes while their owners are away on vacation. Once inside a home he cooks himself a nice meal, takes a relaxing bath and spends the night there. As a way to repay the favor to the absent owners, he fixes things around the house and washes their clothes before leaving. One day he enters the home of abused wife Tae-suk without noticing she is in, and soon the two will get into a profoundly romantic relationship. Tae-suk decides to leave her home and her husband behind and follow Sun-hwa in his incursions into the homes of strangers. After an incident in one of the homes they broke into Sun-hwa winds up in jail while Tae-suk is returned to her husband. The two lovers will try all in their powers to reunite.

3-Iron3-Iron is a very poetic movie, full of symbolisms and little details. There is very little dialogue in it, the two lovers communicate with their bodies instead of words. In case you wonder about the title, it alludes to a golf club that Sun-hwa takes from Tae-suk’s home.

If you want to enjoy a deeply romantic drama and don’t mind a little bit of fantasy and an open ending then you will enjoy this movie.
